He finally came...Boston Reid Williams, all 9 lbs and 21.5 inches of him, arrived on Friday at 6:07 p.m. Boston had a hard time making his entrance, I was in labor for about 12 hours. Boston was face up and did not want to flip or drop all the way. At about 5:00 p.m., Dr Astle gave me an hour to make some progress or he was going to do a c-section. At the last moment, Dr Astle decided to let me have Boston "the old fashioned way." As Boston was coming out, he turned face down in the cervix but his shoulder got caught. This caused him to have just his head sticking out, which is NOT GOOD AT ALL!!! The nurses and doctor started yelling at me to push with all my might. Two nurses had all of their weight on my uterus in an effort to break Boston's shoulders so that he would come out...I know that sounds mean, but he needed to get out so that he could breath. Dave said he watched Boston's head go from blue to dark purple then to black while he was stuck. Our nurse, Lynette (the greatest nurse ever!!!), started yelling at the other nurses to "push the button!!" All of the sudden, a bunch of bells and whistles started going off and about 9 people from NICU ran in the room. Just as Dr Astle was about to do a c section right there in the room, Boston popped out. He wasn't breathing still, but he started breathing right before the NICU nurses started to work on him.
Luckily, everything with Boston was fine...no broken shoulders and healthy as a horse (and about as big as one, too!!) Dave says that he is a little fire fighter...he sleeps until he's hungry and eats until he's tired. We went home the next day and we have been loving on him ever since. The girls adore having a new little brother to obsess over. Kai is constantly staring at Boston and is the biggest helper, especially when it comes to burping time. Here are some pictures of the newest Williams...Boston Reid Williams!!!
